Within the last decade, music festivals have grown into a major moneymaker in a competitive industry that sees hundreds of such events each year around the world. There are the big ones—Coachella, Lollapalooza, Governors Ball—with big-ticket prices, multiple stages, camping options, and nearly endless lists of performers. As music festivals have taken off in popularity, smaller, niche or genre-specific festivals have also flourished.
But a largely evangelical industry, producing various Christian music festivals, has also created its own parallel world. A place where popular art and culture are filtered through a particular lens and infused with messages of faith, these gatherings also have the ability to conjure up stereotypes and misconceptions that extend to some artists who, in one way or another, had dipped their ties in the secular pop world.
Just last year, FOUND Music Festival held its first event in the Philippines with a whopping 3,000 attendees where fans and new listeners alike stormed in the concert grounds for FOUND’s first ever festival headlined by pop duo For King & Country alongside Quest, Barbie Almalbis, Aia De Leon, Victory Worship, and Upper Room Worship. Following this massive success, FOUND Music Festival is coming back with an even bigger lineup and stronger statement: purpose. Headlining their second major festival are Christian folk rock band Rend Collective and worship band Citipointe Worship, together with local acts like IV of Spades, The Ransom Collective, Leanne and Naara, TFTI, Johann Mendoza, New Life Music, and Victory Worship.
